How can I help?

Dr Bansi is proud to be among one of the few UK doctors to offer endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG.)

ESG is a minimally invasive non-surgical anti-obesity (bariatric) procedure which reduces stomach capacity by up to 70%. The procedure involves placing a camera through the mouth and into the stomach after which stitches are applied to shrink the stomach volume.

The treatment achieves healthy, sustainable weight loss results without patients having to endure long periods of recovery.

UK patients can now receive treatment from one of the country’s leading gastroenterologists. Dr Bansi works with world-renowned weight loss surgeons and the leading Total Weight Solutions Group to achieve the best possible results using personalised care plans tailored to each patient.

How does it work?

ESG uses the Apollo Endosurgery Overstitch device – a small device inserted into the stomach along with a camera, via the throat.

In Dr Bansi’s experienced hands, the device places a series of stitches in the stomach, effectively creating a narrow pouch or sleeve which reduces the stomach size by up to 70%.

Reduced stomach capacity causes patients to feel full much quicker when eating and is also believed to affect the release of hormones controlling appetite and satiety.

The result is healthy, effortless weight loss that is easily sustained over the long-term. Patients can achieve 15-20% total body weight loss within a year and studies show this impressive result is sustained at five years.

ESG Benefits

Feel full faster

ESG significantly reduces stomach capacity, causing you to eat less, feel full faster and absorb fewer calories.

Manage obesity

Patients experience a 15-20% weight loss in the first year after ESG - allowing them to sustain and manage their weight with ease.

Improve health

ESG doesn’t just help you to shed weight and live a healthier lifestyle. It can also dramatically improve obesity-related conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and more.

The Procedure

Before attending your appointment, you’ll be given dietary advice before the procedure and may be asked to refrain from eating and drinking beforehand.

ESG involves the application of a camera and stitching device into the stomach via the throat. For your comfort, the procedure is carried out under deep sedation, and you’ll have the opportunity to put any questions and queries about treatment to Dr Bansi and the team beforehand.

The short recovery period is just one of the reasons why ESG is fast gaining a name as the most convenient of all anti-obesity procedures. You’ll typically be able to return to work within 24-48 hours of receiving treatment.

The success of the treatment does require some commitment on your part and Dr Bansi is happy to discuss how you can make dietary and lifestyle changes to ensure the best long-term results.
